2. What data we collect

When you use our website or make a booking, we may collect:

• Identity data: name
• Contact data: delivery address, email, phone number
• Booking data: skip size, delivery date, hire duration, waste type, placement type
• Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe, our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers ourselves
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, cookies (see our Cookie Policy)
• Communications data: records of emails or messages between you and us

3. How we use your data

• Process and confirm your skip hire booking
• Pass your booking and contact details to the Skip Company who will fulfil your order
• Take payment and process refunds
• Respond to enquiries, complaints, or support requests
• Send booking confirmations and service updates (transactional — not marketing)
• Improve our website and services
• Comply with legal and accounting obligations (e.g. record-keeping for HMRC)

4. Legal basis for processing

We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

• Contract: to take your booking and arrange fulfilment with a Skip Company, we need to process your details
• Legitimate interests: to operate and improve our service, prevent fraud, and communicate with you about your booking
• Legal obligation: to keep financial records for tax purposes

5. Sharing your data

Because we act as an agent connecting you with independent Skip Companies, we share your booking and contact details with the Skip Company who will fulfil your order — full name, delivery address, contact details, skip size/hire dates, any special site instructions, and confirmation that payment has been taken (never your full payment card details, which are processed and stored only by Stripe).

We also share data with:

• Stripe, our payment processor, to process transactions securely
• IT and hosting providers who support our website and systems
• Professional advisers (accountants, solicitors) where necessary
• Regulators or authorities, where required by law

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Skip Companies we work with act as independent data controllers for the data they receive from us in order to fulfil your booking — their own privacy practices apply once they have your details.

6. How long we keep your data

We retain booking, invoice, and transaction data for 6 years, matching HMRC's record-keeping requirements for VAT and Corporation Tax, and the time limit for bringing a claim under the Limitation Act 1980 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

If you close your account or ask us to erase your data before that 6-year period has passed, we remove the personal details that identify you (name, email, phone number, saved addresses) and lock the account so it can never be used again, but we keep the underlying booking, invoice, and payment records themselves — without them we cannot meet our own legal obligations, defend a claim, or keep proper accounts.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request erasure of your data — where we're legally required to keep a record (see Section 6), we anonymize and lock the account instead of deleting it outright, rather than refuse the request entirely
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Data portability
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been mishandled

8. Data security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure payment processing via Stripe and restricted access to personal data within our business.
